Johannesburg – Thursday, 5 September 2024 - The 5 Breakfast Heritage Tour 2024, proudly driven by Suzuki and officially launched at the Festival of Motoring at Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit on Friday, 30 August 2024 is back on Friday, 6 September 2024, with another cracking instalment, showcasing the absolute best that our colourful and richly diverse nation has to offer in celebrating Heritage month.
This is Nick Hamman’s 8th Heritage Tour – his first as breakfast host on SA’s most popular youth radio station. The sizzling hot recipe that has made this tour a firm annual listener favourite remains the same: Exploring all 9 provinces, from 6 to 27 September 2024, to bring you the best in people, places, fun activities and hidden gems, with plenty of great South Africa food – something that Hamman has become a household name for celebrating and promoting – and culture, all to the beat of a proudly South African soundtrack.
“When I first came up with the idea of the Heritage Tour in 2017, I never in my wildest dreams thought that I would get to grow it into what it’s become today,” Hamman says. “The reason that it’s gotten this big is that, as South Africans collectively, we all want to hear stories about the things that make South Africa the greatest country in the world to live in. When you tune in, you’ll hear exactly what you’ve come to expect of the tour: its 3 hours of an unapologetic love letter to South Africa that will leave you feeling more in love with this country than when you started listening.”
“It’s a celebration of all the things that are great about living here - our spirit, our energy, our pride. We are the greatest country on earth and the Heritage Tour proves that. I’m excited to have the breakfast team with me, to get the chance to start the day off from all 9 provinces over the course of 3 weeks. I can’t wait for people to tune into 5FM and the socials and watch me and the team together as we move around this country in search of the best that it has to offer in this year’s ‘New Dawn’ themed Heritage Tour.”
The team – Hamman joined by Xoli Zondo, Thabo Baloyi and Marli van Eeden, will be kicking the tour off by filling up Suzuki Stadium in Kimberley on 6 September 2024, and will also be visiting 5 Suzuki dealerships nationwide for fans of the show to pop in, meet the team, take pictures and take part in some awesome giveaways.
The rest of the tour will be filled with breath taking scenery, rich historical sites, awe-inspiring wilderness experiences, fascinating people (including prominent celebrities), tastings that tantalise the taste buds, epic adventure challenges and more.
The team’s schedule is subject to change as they discover more amazing things to see and do along the way, and will be updated live on 5FM’s website and social media, but this is the nutshell summary:
“The Heritage tour has been a great success story for 5FM,” says 5FM’s Programme Manager, Michael Bossenger. “We're now in the 8th year of the tour, and our 4th with Suzuki. This amazing and deeply engaging tour gives our audiences a chance to celebrate Heritage Month with us, as we rediscover the many hidden gems that our country has to offer and play our part in promoting local tourism. Rest assured that Nick and the team will find those special things, people and stories that resonate with all South Africans and given them a renewed love and passion for this wonderful country we call home.”
